OK! PilgrimBob is about to go on a great adventure. 1,250 miles of walking and hiking from Canterbury, England to Rome Italy. The path is called Via Francigena, an ancient road of pilgrimage for those wishing to see the Pope, the Vatican, and the tombs of the apostles Peter and Paul. Later, in the 10th century, "Segeric the Serious", an archbishop from Canterbury used Via Francigena to receive his pallium (papal papers) directly from the Pope. Segeric was the first pilgrim to document the route.

So, we are off Saturday, April 30. Drive 211 miles from Pine Creek to Philly. Fly 3,539 miles Philly to Heathrow,  16 miles on the train to London,  62 miles by train to Canterbury. After a nights stay in Canterbury, on Monday morning, we get our journey blessed by the Archbishop of Canterbury and then we're off.

For the last month I've been building up my daily walking mileage, starting 3 mi per day, then 5, 7 and now 10 miles. For the last week we've been at our home on Pine Creek. Pics from "base camp".
